Landscaping 101

August 21st, 2007 by Ellie

Last night we rented a rototiller and ’tilled in all of the compost I bought on Sunday. It was so cool! Eric mastered the tiller very quickly and had the yard done in about an hour. After that I raked everything into place and put in the first round of plants.

The majority of the design is going to have to wait until the end of September when the weather cools down, but that’s ok- I’m just glad to have the ugly hedges gone!

It was actually really fun working outdoors last night.

Not only was the weather perfect, but we were really able to see all of the life going on in the neighborhood. Tons of families were out on walks with their dogs and strollers, and I spent a lot of time talking to our neighbors. We really were so lucky to find this neighborhood!

Anyway, the pictures show the progression of the yard so far. Hopefully by the end of September we will have a beautiful, mostly native garden!
