Sister, Sister

September 13th, 2006 by Ellie

Hi everyone! Sorry that our website has been kind of funky lately- we have been experiencing some technical difficulties :)

We have had a lot of fun since my last post- thanks mostly to our sisters!

Sarah’s friends threw her a baby shower at the end of August so my mom and I flew out for a visit. It was a wonderful time- it is so amazing to watch Sarah and Jason prepare for the big day. I never realized how much stuff you need for a baby! Eric and I helped out a little bit by buying her some clothes that I brought with me from Austin. As you know she is having a girl, and as you also know I am very partial to pink (hello! were you at my wedding??!!) so we had no problem buying stuff for the new little one. Sarah’s friends were so generous- she got some beautiful things. While we were there my sister had one of those 3-D ultrasounds done. It was amazing to see and hear the heartbeat! When the ultrasound first started the baby was moving her mouth and pursing her lips- it was so cool! I can’t wait to meet her and become an Auntie again! I am praying that somehow the timing will work out and I will be able to be there for her birth, so keep your fingers crossed!

Speaking of being an Auntie- Allison started first grade last month! She is growing up way too fast. I keep telling Samantha to put a book on her head to stop her from growing but it’s just not working. Eric and I wanted to get her a little present for starting school and thought a dress would be nice. You see, my niece is a very girly girl. She will not wear anything but dresses, which poses a problem now that she is in the section that has sizes 7-14. That means they sell clothes to first graders that teenagers are wearing! We went to a few different stores trying to find her something that wasn’t camouflage or punk. It was very hard but we finally found one dress that was still little girly. Luckily Allison liked it so much she asked us to buy another one in a different color! Man, it is much easier to shop for the baby!

Last weekend Jessica came to stay with us for a visit and we had a fabulous time! After she got in on Friday we went to the Salt Lick (of course!) and then vegged around the house and watched movies. On Saturday the Longhorns had their “Big Game” against Ohio, so the three of us went to campus for our first Tailgate party at one of Eric’s coworkers fraternity houses. Jessica, Eric and I were so excited because even though we all are/were in a greek organization- none of us had the stereotypical college greek experience. So for about three hours on Saturday we all got to see what we missed out on- and let me tell you, it was very fun.

On Saturday night we went to the Jacks Mannequin concert in downtown Austin. I went to high school with Andrew McMahon, so he set us up with VIP passes. It was really surreal seeing him up there with hundreds of fans in the audience hanging on his every note- I am so proud of him! He recently fought leukemia so it was a blessing to see him so healthy. We got to spend a few minutes with him after the concert which was really nice because I haven’t seen him in years. Hopefully next time he comes through town he will have more time to hang out.

On Sunday we saw the movie The Illusionist with the Parker’s at the Alamo. We love Edward Norton, so any excuse to watch him on the big screen is fine with me! On Sunday night Eric made a yummy brisket and we had the Parkers over for dinner. The five of us played the game “Scene It” and had a Falcao’s vs. Parker’s show down. We won, even though the three of us combined probably haven’t seen as many movies as Nick and Emily have! Who knows how that happened…..

We let Jessica go home on Monday, even though we had planned to lock her in the closet under the stairs. Ha! There’s always her next visit! Two of my oldest friends, Sarah and Jami, are coming to visit tomorrow, so maybe we will have to lock them in there instead!
