Weekend Update
Hello! Wow, I am actually posting on the site and it hasn’t been a month since the last one! We had a really great weekend, so much so that it was even easy to get up for work today, so you know it had to have been relaxing! I don’t know about the rest of you, but this year the daylight savings time change really affected me. I haven’t been able to wake up easily since March! Anyhow, on Friday night Emily and I met up with the uShippers for their monthly “First Friday” celebration (this month it was bowling) and arrived just after Eric bowled his best game ever- a 212!! I was sad to have missed it, but if I know Eric, I’ll be re-living it with him for the rest of our lives, I’m sure. (He has already reminisced twice and it’s only been three days :)) After bowling we went downtown with the Parkers and ate at PF Changs (Yum!) and then walked to 6th street. This weekend there was a huge biker rally in Austin, so lining the streets were hundreds of hogs and choppers. Everywhere we looked there were people decked out in biker gear, and I even made friends with two biker chicks in the restroom of the Ritz (not the fancy hotel, but a cool run-down bar that we played pool at).
On Saturday, Eric and I went to the outlets in San Marcos to stock up on summer clothes (it’s already in the 90’s here but it doesn’t feel too bad-yet) and then we hung out around the house for a while. We went over to the Parkers house for fondue and had a fabulous time, as usual. They make the best fondue- I never would have thought to put beer in the cheese (not wine) but it tastes really good!
On Sunday, we took Reese and had breakfast and coffee at a little shop near the lake. It was such a beautiful morning, and we had a wonderful time enjoying the view and talking. People are so cute when they see a puppy. I’m sure it’s very similar to having a baby, but everyone wants to come over and say hi and pet her. It’s great, but she is so spoiled. Now she expects everyone to love on her, so whenever someone doesn’t stop to pet her, you can tell she gets confused. After breakfast we went to a place referred to as “Dog Island.” It is an off-the-leash park/island where everyone takes their dogs. Reese already loves the water, but yesterday was the first time she actually swam as opposed to just jumping around like she used to do. It was really fun, but she’s still a puppy so she can be wild sometimes. Everyone got a kick watching her swim after the other dogs and then piggy back ride them until the dog shook her off. Luckily it seems like most people understand the puppiness, so it isn’t too much of a problem. Later on we lounged around the house, ran some errands and found some bookshelves for our living room. Tonight we are going to go pick them up, and then I think our house is pretty much done for a while. I really want to get some nice patio furniture, but I think we’ll wait for the sales at the end of the summer.
Well, just three more days until we are back in California. I better get some work done before we go. :)
