Flurries and Freezing Rain?!

December 7th, 2005 by Ellie

Ok, so anyone I told that the winters in Austin are similar to the ones in So Cal needs to forget I said that. Today the high is 39 degrees, with chances of flurries and freezing rain tonight! People are covering up their plants so they don’t freeze and die tonight! Boy, was I wrong! Luckily Eric and I went out and bought thick coats one of the first days after we got here, so we are keeping warm.

Big news- I had a second interview today for an Assistant Property Manager position and was offered the job! I am going to start after the first of the year since there is so much going on these next few weeks. Yea! Now this means Eric and I can get serious about buying a house!

We had a lot of fun this past weekend. We ended up going to a free concert downtown on Saturday night. We only stayed for the opening act- I think we need to build up our stamina for going to shows. We had to stand for two hours waiting for the show to start, so by the time the first band went on, I was just about ready to leave! Good show, though- the band’s name was “Honky” but it was really good rock and roll. On Sunday we walked around Home Depot for a while pointing out things that we like and pricing everything. If we end up building a house we want to make sure we get good prices on different things from the builder, otherwise we will replace them later ourselves (like door hardware and faucets etc.) It was really fun- it is so amazing actually allowing ourselves to think about “our” house! I got so used to pushing thoughts of buying a house out of my head in California, so it is weird when you realize that we could have a house in just a couple of months! So cool…..

Ok, well I better get back to my housewife duties- laundry, dishes, Oprah, Dr. Phil…..Oh man, I need to start working!!
